To expand its manufacturing capabilities, GE Aviation purchased a vacant building with plans to transform it into its new, $14 million “Brilliant Factory” where parts are built for the Boeing 777 engine. GE Aviation selected Pressures & Pipes -- Egan's Muskegon Branch -- to install the process piping on this 161,000 square-foot facility. The project had strict safety requirements and an expedited schedule that required both lengthy shifts and weekend work for Pressures & Pipes. The scope included a significant amount of specialty work such as coopermatic oil, compressed air, argon, natural gas and process water, much of which was installed using a unique double-racking system. Additionally, Pressures & Pipes installed a snowmelt system at the employee entrance and between the new and existing facility.
