3D Laser Scanning
Our scanners collect up to one million 3D measurements every second. We use 3D laser scanning for fast, accurate and cost-effective as-built documentation and risk mitigation on both new construction and renovation projects.
Scan to BIM
After scanning, Egan converts the point-cloud data to a precise 3D model. We can build models at any level of detail our clients need, from simple structural models to finely detailed, complex MEP models.
BIM Coordination
Instead of turning over a 3D model to the project team, Egan can collaborate with the owner, design professionals and construction managers to lead multi-trade BIM coordination. Rework in the field accounts for as much as 15% of a project's cost, and it can be avoided through accurate coordination.
Equipment
We use Leica ScanStation P40 scanners and Leica MS60 Multistation surveying equipment, offering the industry's best combination of accuracy, range and speed. We maintain +/-1.2 mm accuracy at an 800-foot range.
The Retrofab Process
- Laser Scan & Survey: millions of 3D measurements captured with +/-1 mm accuracy in a fraction of the time of hand measurement.
- 3D Modeling & Coordination: our virtual construction teams build a model from the point cloud, then verify constructability of the prefabrication design.
- Fabrication: code-certified welders fabricate, test and build modular packages from shop drawings extracted from the model.
- Quality Scan: components are laser scanned against the model to catch deviations before shipping.
- Installation & Turnover: components arrive factory-tested and validated against existing conditions, so installation is quick and efficient.
