Ultium Battery Plant

On this fast-paced project, Egan's scope was to install stainless steel vacuum piping, nitrogen piping and compressed air for the Ultium Cells Battery Plant in Lansing, MI. Over the course of six weeks, a crew of 40 completed the installation of approximately 3,100' of pipe ranging from 1/2" to 6". Without a set of drawings for the project, Egan used the model to take measurements off column lines to use for the basis of piping plans. Another challenge was access to the pipe hangers, many of which were located over existing equipment and as high as 50', with pipe routes through finished, walkable ceilings. This newly constructed facility will manufacture advanced battery cells for electric vehicles.
