Charles Hackley Middle School

Work on Charles Hackley Middle School in Muskegon kicked off in May of 2022, starting with 3D coordination of the underground plumbing and piping. The project manager implemented some innovative strategies to keep this project under budget. For example, Egan self-peformed excavation and fabricated the underground, a common practice for piping racks but unique for underground piping. Egan also provided fabrication services for piping in the boiler room. The classroom layouts are nearly identical as you move up each floor, making installation more efficient. The school sits on the site of the former Mercy Health Hackley Hospital, which was donated to the district after the hospital was demolished in 2021. Ready to welcome students in fall of 2024, the school features 45 classrooms, six science labs, a music wing, gymnasium and gender neutral bathroms in the three-story building.
